Eli Remolona Public Lecture: How central banks talk to the markets

Eli Remolona is the former Regional Head for Asia of the Bank for International Settlements and current Visiting Professor at Williams College’s Center for Economic Development. He is the world-leading expert on how financial markets respond to information released by policymakers. He will give a public lecture on how to improve central bank communication as part of the University of Sydney’s FASS FutureFix “Global Perspectives on Economic Policy” initiative.

More about Eli Remolona

Professor Remolona’s extensive experience in financial markets, international finance and monetary policy includes more than a decade at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York and almost two decades at the Bank for International Settlements. As the Regional Head for Asia and the Pacific at the Bank for International Settlements, he developed close working relationships with the governors of the 12 leading central banks in the region to advance issues of financial regulatory reform and new frameworks for monetary policy. He has published influential articles in leading journals in economics and finance and has been Associate Editor for the International Journal of Central Banking since 2005. He received his PhD in economics from Stanford University.
